MSD is offering a Future Talent Program internship in the BARDS Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences department in New Jersey. Interns will work on projects related to preclinical and clinical biostatistics under supervision of experienced statisticians.

The role requires current enrollment in an MS or PhD program in Statistics or Biostatistics, with 12 weeks of full-time availability starting May or June 2027, and strong communication skills. Hybrid work arrangement is available.

The Future Talent Program features summer internships that will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

In BARDS (Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences), a distinguished department within our company’s renowned Research and Development division, quantitative scientists, in partnership with other subject matter experts, apply state-of-the art scientific methodologies and tools to enable the discovery, development, regulatory approval, manufacturing, and marketing of medical drugs and vaccines for the benefit of patients and global human health.

The department is hiring interns for Preclinical Biostatistics and Clinical Biostatistics and seeking students enrolled in an MS or PhD degree in Statistics or Biostatistics. In these internships, you will work closely with an experienced pharmaceutical industry statistician to perform statistical analysis of data from and/or statistical research related to basic drug research, clinical pharmacology, drug and vaccine development, biomarker development, pharmacogenomics, AI/ML, health technology assessment or methodological research.

This is a full- time summer internship position.

Required Education and Skills

• Candidates must be currently enrolled students and have completed at least (2) semesters of graduate work towards an MS or PhD degree in Statistics or Biostatistics by May 2027.
• Candidates must be available to work full-time for 12 weeks beginning in May or June 2027.
• Candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills.
• Candidates must have a good working knowledge of SAS, S-Plus, and/or R.
