Job summary

U.S. Bank is offering a 10-week paid internship in Financial Crimes within Risk Management and Compliance. The program combines hands-on projects, formal training, mentorship, and exposure to real-world investigations.

As an intern, you’ll work on risk prevention projects, collaborate with AML and Fraud teams, and gain business and risk acumen through mentorship and senior leadership exposure. The role is hybrid with 4 days at the location and ~40 hours per week.

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a target graduation date between December 2026 or May 2027.
  • Ability to start an internship program on June 01, 2027.

Job Description
What you’ll do

Financial Crimes is an integral part of U.S. Bank’s Risk Management and Compliance (RM&C) organization. Our Financial Crimes 10-week paid internship offers a unique opportunity to explore a career in financial crime prevention through a mix of hand-on project work, formal training, mentorship, and exposure to real-world financial crime investigations.

As a financial crimes intern, you’ll:
  • Get hands-on experience working on projects to proactively prevent, identify and mitigate risk
  • Strengthen investigative skills while networking across Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Fraud teams
  • Support Financial Crimes initiatives through collaboration and cross-functional teamwork
  • Build business and risk acumen through training, mentorship, and exposure to senior leaders
  • Connect with peers through cohort-building activities such as social events, volunteer days, and development workshops
Who we’re looking for

Do you have a passion for justice and preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other crimes from harming our society? If you have strong analytical, communication and computer skills, and are interested in learning how banks are a crucial partner to law enforcement, then our Financial Crimes Internship might be right for you!

We welcome students from a diverse range of academic backgrounds - including but not limited to finance, accounting, criminal justice, economics, data analytics, and other related fields.

Basic qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a target graduation date between December 2026 or May 2027
  • Ability to start an internship program on June 01, 2027
Preferred qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and growth mindset
  • Coursework or extracurricular activities related to accounting, finance, criminal justice, economics, data analytics, or other related fields
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Vigilance in gathering and reviewing data to identify issues and drive results
  • Highly organized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Working model and hours

This role is hybrid. Interns who are in this hybrid role will spend 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) at the listed U.S. Bank location(s), while having flexibility on their work location for the other working day.

Interns work approximately 40-hours each week during the internship.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $20.00 - $26.39
