Job summary

PPG’s Financial Leadership Development (FLD) Program is a highly selective rotational program to develop the next generation of finance leaders at PPG. Participants gain broad exposure to the company’s global finance and accounting functions through rotations across manufacturing operations, strategic business units, and corporate finance.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance required.
  • GPA of 3.3 or above preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and on teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and willingness to travel.
  • Authorized to work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing manufacturing costs including labor, materials, utilities, and efficiencies.
  • Supporting product costing and profitability analysis through standard cost updates.
  • Preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Participating in inventory counts and related reconciliations.
  • Developing short- and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Evaluating capital investment opportunities and business cases.
  • Analyzing customer and product profitability for business decisions.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports and analyses.
  • Building expertise in finance systems (SAP, Oracle, Anaplan).

Job description

The PPG Financial Leadership Development (FLD) Program is a highly selective, premier rotational program designed to develop the next generation of finance leaders at PPG. For more than 40 years, the program has served as a proven pipeline for top talent, providing participants with the experiences, training, and mentorship needed to build successful careers across the organization.

As an FLD participant, you will gain broad exposure to PPG’s global business through a series of rotational assignments across key finance and accounting functions. These opportunities may include experiences within manufacturing operations, Strategic Business Units, and corporate finance, allowing you to develop a well-rounded understanding of how finance drives business performance.

During your first year, you will participate in a structured onboarding and development experience designed to accelerate your growth and help you build a strong foundation in finance at PPG. In addition to meaningful, hands-on responsibilities, you will receive a combination of technical training, leadership development, and professional skills coaching to strengthen your business acumen and prepare you for future leadership opportunities.

Following your initial rotation, you will work closely with experienced finance leaders and program mentors to identify future assignments aligned with your interests, strengths, and career goals. Subsequent rotations, typically lasting around 24 months, provide increasing levels of responsibility and exposure to different areas of the business, helping you continue to expand your skills, network, and impact across the organization.

Typical responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, utilities, and operational efficiencies.
  • Supporting product costing and profitability analysis through standard cost updates.
  • Preparing journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Participating in inventory counts and inventory-related reconciliations.
  • Developing short- and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Evaluating capital investment (CapEx) opportunities and business cases.
  • Analyzing customer and product profitability to support business decisions.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports, performance analyses, and ad hoc insights.
  • Building expertise in leading finance systems, including SAP, Oracle, and Anaplan.
Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong academic record (GPA of 3.3 or above)
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to work cross functionally and on teams
  • Managerial potential and proven leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Authorized to work permanently in the United States
