Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is offering an Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) internship for Summer 2027. The program provides practical exposure in the defense industry and hands-on experience alongside professionals in submarine innovation.

Interns will engage in technically challenging EH&S tasks, gain career-building work experience, and kick start their professional journey within a leading shipyard environment in Groton/New London (CT) and nearby locations.

Program Highlights

• Duration: A minimum of 8 weeks during Summer 2027.
• Location: The position is on-site and you may be placed in any of the following locations:
  • Connecticut: Groton, New London, North Stonington
  • Rhode Island: North Kingstown
• Relocation Assistance: This internship is not eligible for a housing stipend or relocation assistance.

Qualifications

Required

• Enrolled full-time at a College or University
• Completed at least Freshman year by Summer 2027
• Pursing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• Willing and able to work 40 hours per week for at least 8 consecutive weeks between May 2027 to September 2027

Preferred

• Familiarity with environmental regulations.
• Strong interest in how environmental regulations apply in the shipbuilding environment.
• Strong interest in a shipyard trade or construction environment.
