Caterpillar Inc. invites candidates for the 2027 Entry Level Engineer Rotation - Solutions Platforms Engineered.

This program builds a broad engineering foundation through four 6-month rotations in diverse departments, including systems development, product maintenance, NPI, software, and mechanical design. Participants gain hands-on experience and customer insight while developing a enterprise perspective.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Minimum GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
• 0-3 years of related experience.
• Must be able and willing to relocate to San Diego, CA.
• Previous Internship and/or relevant work experience in an engineering field.

Responsibilities

• Participate in four 6-month rotations across Systems Development, Product Maintenance, New Product Introduction, Software Development, Mechanical Development & Analysis, and other related areas.

The SPE Engineer r otation p rogram provides the foundation for the future success of Solar Turbines engineers and the future success of the organization. The purpose of the program is to start the development and training of the next generation of well-rounded and highly competent engineers through an engineering rotation program.Program Goals:Begin building technical foundationProvide challenging assignmentsCreate broad exposure to Solar TurbinesAcquire product knowledgeDevelop enterprise perspectiveBegin network buildingBuild pride and engagementPreparation for a challenging and rewarding engineering careerRotations:Rotation assignments vary for each individual and are decided upon between management and the employee based on the needs of the business. Work assignments can range from assisting in product development, software development, hands on shop floor experiences, to Systems or Mechanical design.Each program consists of Four ( 4 ) Six-month Rotations in departments such as:Systems DevelopmentProduct MaintenanceNew Product IntroductionSoftware DevelopmentMechanical Development & AnalysisHMI DisplayPackage Controls DesignMechanical DesignProduct CertificationHydro-Mechanical DesignInterfacing with critical non-engineering roles to develop an understanding of our product life cycle and how the business runs. A c ustomer s ite v isit is included to gain an understanding of the customer’s needs and the field environment. Once the rotation program is nearing the end, management works with the engineer to align engineering organizational needs with which department they want to join for their long-term a ssignment.Minimum qualifications :Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.Minimum overall GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.0-3 years of related experience.Previous Internship and/or relevant work experience in an engineering field.Must be able and willing to relocate to San Diego, CA.Preferred Qualifications :Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment.High energy level and sense of urgency.Strong verbal and written communication skills .Good business / technical judgment.Ability to handle multiple priorities for a variety of tasks.Summary Pay Range:$77,264.00 - $115,896.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
