Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is offering the Summer 2027 Engineering Internship Program for current college students. You’ll receive leadership training from senior leaders and work on real projects within a business unit.

Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's in Mechanical, Computer, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering; other majors considered case-by-case. The program runs 10–12 weeks and includes a lump-sum housing stipend.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Computer, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering with a GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Modeling CAD skills are preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design and development of rotating equipment (air compressors, blowers, pumps).
  • Support lab testing, new technology innovation, and product analysis.
  • Answer marketing, technical, and systems questions from peers or internal customers.
  • Assist in testing/verification of software for Electrical/Software Engineering candidates.
  • Support electrical system design for various products (Electrical Engineering candidates).
  • Manage assigned projects from inception to completion within agreed timelines.
  • Be open to working in an active lab and/or manufacturing environment.

Job Summary:


Ingersoll Rand’sSummer 2027Engineering Internship Program provides current college students with challenging assignments, leadership training from senior leaders and opportunities to network. All interns will be part of a 10-12 week program within a business unit. These positions will contribute to the engineering design and development of current and new products.


Our internship opportunity is offered to candidates working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering. Other majors will be considered on a case-by-case basis. At Ingersoll Rand, we place great value on our interns. Our positions are structured to maximize your internship and professional experience.


This position is a paid internship for theSummer of 2027. We offer a lump sum housing stipend for our interns. We are not able to guarantee the internship location you will be assigned to and require that you remain flexible on your location.


These opportunities are available in the following locations:



  • Quincy, IL

  • Springfield, MO

  • Bentleyville, PA


Responsibilities may include:



  • Assist in the design and development of rotating equipment, including air compressors, blowers, and pumps

  • Assist in projects involving lab testing, new technology innovation, and product analysis

  • Answer marketing/technical/systems/applications questions when requested by peers or internal customers

  • Assist in the testing and verification of software (for Electrical/Software Engineering candidates only)

  • Assist in electrical system design for various products (for Electrical Engineering candidates only)

  • Handle all details of assigned projects from inception to completion within mutually agreed-upon timeframes

  • Must be open and willing to work in an active lab and/or manufacturing environment


Successful Candidates Profile:


Ingersoll Rand is looking for innovative, performance driven interns who value the importance of collaboration and customer focus.



  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Computer, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering with a GPA of 3.0

  • Superior leadership abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication, project management and interpersonal skills

  • Highly motivated to achieve desired goals and objectives in a fast-paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere

  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex business problems

  • Must also be able to work effectively in a team environment, and ability to handle multiple tasks with ease

  • Must be detail and results oriented with a proven track record of success

  • Modeling CAD skills are preferred, but not required


Starting Pay is $23.00-$29.00 per hour but may be adjusted based on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, hourly position.
