Job summary

Textron invites engineering-minded students to join our 10-week Manufacturing Engineer Intern program in Augusta, GA. You will work on real projects alongside senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience in production tooling, process improvement, and quality analysis.

You will build plans, redesign tooling, and analyze layouts to optimize product flow. The program includes mentorship, training, and exposure to manufacturing challenges that prepare you for a career in operations engineering.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and drive to complete tasks and assignments.

Responsibilities

• Build plans, production tooling, and manufacturing processes for components and assemblies.
• Redesign tooling to improve operators’ work environments.
• Analyze layouts and production processes to improve facility layouts for product flow.
• Create reference documents and standardized work for new or improved processes.
• Analyze quality concerns, make recommendations for improvement, and implement ideas.
• Explore new equipment and software to reduce scrap and downtime and propose production-flow changes.
• Monitor and improve key supply chain KPIs including PPM, line disruptions, and NCMT tickets.
• Develop standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
• Evaluate production processes to increase productivity and explore product enhancements.
• Coordinate material and tooling availability with stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Build plans, production tooling, and manufacturing processes for components and assemblies.
• Redesign tooling to improve operators’ work environments.
• Analyze layouts and production processes to improve facility layouts for product flow.
• Creating reference documents and standardized work for new or improved processes.
• Analyze quality concerns, make recommendations for improvement, and implement ideas.
• Exploring new equipment and software that can reduce scrap and downtime and recommend changes to production flow to implement recommendations.
• Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s including PPM, line disruptions and days to close non-conforming material tickets (NCMT).
• Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
• Evaluate production processes to increase productivity and investigate methods to enhance the product.
• Coordinate material and tooling availability with appropriate stakeholders.
