Job summary

Starwood Capital Group’s Global Technology Data team seeks a capable 2028 graduate to help design, build, and test data applications and automations used in real business workflows at a global real estate investment firm.

You will collaborate with data engineers and analysts on asset management and acquisitions use cases, focusing on analytics, data pipelines, and process automation while receiving mentorship and regular code reviews.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or having completed a degree in a relevant field with strong analytical skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Python and SQL through coursework or projects.
• Interest in data, automation, and building production-ready datasets.

Responsibilities

• Work with data engineers to build out automated ingestion and transformation pipelines
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deliver production-ready datasets for asset management and acquisitions use cases
• Connect internal data warehouses to internal data sources, APIs, and business applications
• Work with business stakeholders to understand workflows, define requirements for new tools, and gather feedback
• Attend team meetings, join reviews, and contribute ideas to project teams
• Learn and apply data security, governance, and privacy standards

Technology:

The Starwood Capital Global Technology team runs the firm's technical operations, including hardware, software, and networking. The Data team plans, builds, and supports the engineering and business applications that help people across the firm do their work efficiently and securely.

About the Role:

The intern will join the Global Technology Data team and help design, build, and test data applications and automations used in real business workflows at a global real estate investment firm. Projects will cover asset management and acquisitions use cases, including engineering builds that focus on analytics, data pipeline work, and process automation. The program is built for learning. Interns will be paired with a mentor, meet regularly for coaching and code reviews, and take on more ownership as they build skills. No one expects you to arrive as an expert in data science or data engineering. We care more about curiosity, good judgment, and a willingness to experiment and learn from what doesn't work.

Responsibilities:

• Work with data engineers to build out automated ingestion and transformation pipelines
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deliver production-ready datasets for asset management and acquisitions use cases

• Learn and apply the firm’s standards for data security, governance, privacy, and responsible data use

Requirements:

• Must be a 2028 college graduate
• Preferably majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, or a related field
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Strong interest in data and business automation, shown through coursework, personal projects, hackathons or self-directed learning
• Exceptional attention to detail and an analytical, problem-solving mindset
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable with ambiguity, receptive to feedback and eager to learn quickly

Nice to Have (not required):

• Full-stack software or data development experience
• Familiarity with SQL, APIs, cloud platforms, or Git
• Interest in real estate, finance, or investment management
