Under Canvas seeks a Facilities Technician at Acadia, Surry, ME to maintain our glamping site, ensuring safety and smooth operation for guests and staff. You will perform daily upkeep of tents, amenities, and equipment, with potential for more technical tasks such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work depending on location.

This seasonal, hourly position offers housing options for the employment duration and requires ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year in maintenance/repair, outdoors or hospitality preferred.
  • Ability to work long hours outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with guests and team members regularly.
  • Respond quickly to changing situations on property.
  • Perform general upkeep of tents, plumbing, heaters, and equipment.
  • Maintain facilities across multiple tents and structures.
  • Collaborate with Facilities team and other departments.

Salary Range: $17.00 To $18.00 Hourly

Summary

As a Facilities Technician, you work closely with the Facilities Supervisor to ensure our glamping location is well‑maintained, safe, and operational for our team members and guests. You play an important role in our success by performing daily maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of our tents, amenities, equipment, and property. Depending on the camp location, the nature of work performed will vary from basic upkeep to more technical functions such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. This is a seasonal, hourly position that includes the option of team member housing for the duration of employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact regularly with guests and team members.
  • Think critically to respond quickly and effectively to ever‑changing situations on property.
  • Be solutions‑oriented and proactive in problem‑solving.
  • Perform general upkeep of tents, plumbing systems, propane gas water heaters, stove pipes, decks, trailers, vehicles, generators, solar power equipment, and more.
  • Perform day‑to‑day maintenance and repair work at a camp location consisting of up to 80 high‑quality outdoor tents with plumbing; communal structures with showers and toilets; laundry facilities; restaurants; common areas; fire pits; outdoor activities; and equipment.
  • Work alongside Facilities team members under the direction of the Facilities Manager on related tasks and across multiple departments as needed.
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of experience performing corrective, preventative, or general maintenance and repair work, preferably in customer‑focused outdoor environments, hotels, or hospitality settings.
  • Outdoor enthusiast with the ability to work long, flexible hours outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Team player with strong problem‑solving skills.

Additional Information
  • This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment (PPE), when applicable.
  • This position requires the ability to independently lift a minimum of 45 pounds.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking, standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and maneuvering in an outdoor environment on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, and wind.
  • This position is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check and/or motor vehicle records check, if requested by Under Canvas.
