Job summary

Under Canvas seeks a Facilities Technician for our Acadia, Surry location in Maine. This seasonal, hourly role supports the Facilities Supervisor by maintaining tents, amenities, equipment, and the property to keep guests and team members safe and comfortable.

Responsibilities include routine upkeep, minor repairs, and coordination with a multi-department team. Housing may be provided for the duration of employment; strong safety awareness is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of field maintenance experience with minimal direction; plumbing, septic, propane or generators preferred.
  • Outdoor work with long hours in heat and cold.
  • Team-player with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with electrical systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • HVAC experience welcomed.
  • Plumbing experience.
  • Adherence to safety standards.

  • General upkeep of tents, plumbing systems, propane water heaters, stove pipes, decks, trailers, vehicles, generators, solar power equipment and more.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and repair work at a camp location with up to 80 tents and related facilities.
  • Work with facilities team under the Facilities Manager across departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.

Salary Range: $18.00 To $20.00 Hourly

Summary

As a Facilities Technician, you work closely with the Facilities Supervisor to ensure our glamping location is well-maintained, safe, and operational for our team members and guests. You play an important role in our success by performing daily maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of our tents, amenities, equipment, and property. Depending on the camp location, the nature of work performed will vary from basic upkeep to more technical functions such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. This is a seasonal, hourly position that includes the option of team member housing for the duration of employment.

  • General upkeep of tents, plumbing systems, propane gas water heaters, stove pipes, decks, trailers, vehicles, generators, solar power equipment and more
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and repair work at a camp location consisting of up to 80 high-quality outdoor tents with plumbing, communal structures with showers and toilets, laundry facilities, restaurants, common areas, fire pits, outdoor activities, and equipment
  • Work alongside facilities team members, under the direction of the Facilities Manager, on related tasks and in across multiple departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum two or more years of experience performing work with minimal direction, preferably skilled in plumbing, septic, propane, or generators
  • Outdoor enthusiast able to work long, flexible hours outdoors in heat and cold

Additional Information
  • This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment, when applicable.
  • This position requires that the individual is able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs independently.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking, standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and maneuvering in an outdoor environment on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, and wind.
  • This position is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check and/or motor vehicle records check, if requested by Under Canvas.
