Job summary

Plante Moran in Chicago invites interns to join our valuation services team. You’ll be treated like entry level staff and work on a variety of assignments from day one.

You’ll gain experience in interviewing clients, financial modeling, and writing valuation reports, with exposure to industries such as Private Equity, Venture Capital, Manufacturing, Tech & Software, Healthcare, and more.

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented leader with problem solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent skill sets in the use of MS Word and Excel.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
  • Academic success (a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0).

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing clients, including face-to-face meetings, to gather data and information pertinent to the assignment
  • Researching industry value drivers, including market and competitor information
  • Financial modeling, including discounted cash flow, public market multiple, M&A market transaction and option pricing analyses
  • Assisting in writing valuation reports from start to finish and communicating conclusions to clients
  • Supporting our clients, whether they need our opinions for financial reporting, tax planning or litigation support.

Your role.

No busy work here. As an intern, you’ll be treated just like our entry level staff and part of the team providing valuation services to our clients. We’ll give you the flexibility to craft business solutions, not just spreadsheets.

You can look forward to:

  • Working on a variety of assignments, including the valuation of:

    • Equity securities

    • Business enterprises

    • Intangible assets

    • Stock options

  • Participating in all phases of engagement including, but not limited to:

    • Interviewing clients, including face-to-face meetings, to gather data and information pertinent to the assignment

    • Researching industry value drivers, including market and competitor information

    • Financial modeling, including discounted cash flow, public market multiple, M&A market transaction and option pricing analyses

    • Assisting in writing valuation reports from start to finish and communicating conclusions to clients

    • Supporting our clients, whether they need our opinions for financial reporting, tax planning or litigation support.

  • Delivering results to clients in interesting industries, including but not limited to:

    • Private Equity

This is a non-exempt position and may require work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week. This position may require some local, national, and occasional international travel.

We are pleased to offer eligible staff a robust benefits package. Eligibility and contribution requirements for some of these benefits vary based on the number of hours staff work per week. The compensation range reflects the base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this position across our offices in the following regions: CO, IL, OH, and MA. Please review the position description for the applicable geographic location. Generally, experienced hires are not hired at or near the maximum salary range, as compensation decisions take into account a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to: responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. For early career roles, including campus hires, we offer standardized, market-based starting salaries among individuals within the same hiring group. This approach ensures fairness and reflects current industry benchmarks for entry-level talent.

The compensation range for this role in CO, IL, OH, and MA is: $33.00 - $36.00
