Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Cyber Systems Engineer for our Roy, UT location. You will work on securing network architectures, performing vulnerability assessments, and developing automation scripts to monitor and patch systems.

You’ll participate in incident response drills, analyze logs with SIEM tools, and contribute to cloud security guidelines for AWS and Azure, collaborating with DevOps, IT, and compliance teams to embed security in CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Cybersecurity.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP access within company-defined timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and deployment of secure network architectures (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation efforts.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for security monitoring and patch management.
• Participate in security incident response drills and log analysis using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Elastic).
• Contribute to security hardening guides and documentation for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Perform penetration testing of internal applications under guidance and report findings.
• Work with cross-functional teams (DevOps, IT, compliance) to integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines.

This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector in Roy, UT.The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Strategic Deterrent Systems Division. Our Cyber Systems Engineering team designs, implements, and maintains secure, resilient infrastructure for mission-critical applications.
