The Los Alamos National Laboratory Research Library (https://researchlibrary.lanl.gov) seeks a Software Development post-Bachelors Student to help imagine, create, and sustain its digital services. We support the Laboratory's paramount mission to solve national security challenges through scientific excellence by delivering essential knowledge services. The durable value of these services depends on a foundation of effective and efficient software infrastructure. This position will work on a variety of projects supporting the management, curation, discovery, dissemination, and preservation of institutional scientific content.
Reporting to the Team Leader for Institutional Scientific Content (ISC), this developer will join an experienced group of software developers, library professionals, project managers, and system administrators. We offer a creative setting in which information technologies and services are applied to scientific productivity. We aggressively pursue new ideas, services, products, and approaches to satisfy research needs. The successful candidate should be a versatile individual who works collaboratively, embraces learning, and has a strong user focus.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Onsite / Hybrid: This position is located in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be regularly required. Hybrid is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice. Some interns may work a 9/80 schedule at the discretion of management and in accordance with the Student Programs Office guidebook.

The LANL Research Library advances discovery science in support of the Lab mission to solve national security challenges through scientific excellence. Staff members work closely with colleagues within and across teams. The Research Library values strong outreach to Lab scientists and engineers and supports the full scholarly communication lifecycle joint with open science principles.
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
