Description

The Laborer/Equipment Operator performs general construction labor and operates assigned vehicles, machinery, tools, and heavy equipment in support of construction, demolition, excavation, site-development, material-handling, and related field operations, dependent on training and skill level. This position is responsible for completing assigned work safely, efficiently, and according to project plans, supervisor instructions, company policies, and applicable safety requirements. The employee may divide time between manual labor and equipment operation depending on project needs. The employee must be dependable, safety-conscious, able to work outdoors in varying conditions, and willing to perform physical labor when not operating equipment.

Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS :

WORKS UNDER ROOF BETWEEN 20% - 95% OF TIME. SUBJECT TO HEAT, COLD AND HUMID CONDITIONS OF FLORIDA.

BREAK AREAS OR VEHICLE CABS EQUIPPED WITH AIR CONDITIONING.

EQUIPMENT IS EQUIPPED WITH OPERATIONAL AIR

CONDITIONING. BREAK AREAS EQUIPPED WITH AIR CONDITIONING.

USES HAND AND POWER TOOLS TO EFFECTIVELY COMPLETE DEMOLITION TASKS.

OPERATES LARGE MOVING MACHINERY WITH PINCH POINT HAZARDS AS TRAINED.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK EFFECTIVELY AND SAFELY AT HEIGHTS UPTO 70 FEET.

SUBJECT TO OCCASIONAL HIGH LEVELS OF NOISE.

OCCASIONAL CONFINED SPACE WORK.

PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS :

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/LABORER MAY BE INTERRUPTED WHILE COMPLETING NORMAL WORK DAY TASKS AND BE RELOCATED

TO ANOTHER AREA OF THE FACILITY OR JOBSITE REQUIRING IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. KEEPING UP WITH

PRODUCTION OR DEMOLITION REQUIREMENTS ON HIGH VOLUME DAYS.

UNUSUAL STRESS:

WHILE PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF THIS JOB, THE EMPLOYEE IS REGULARLY EXPOSED TO

MOVING CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT WITHIN HIS WORK AREA. THE EMPLOYEE IS OCCASIONALLY BE EXPOSED TO

EXHAUST FUMES OR LOW LEVEL AIRBORNE CONCRETE DUST AND OUTSIDE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

WORKING TIME :

HOURS -- EIGHT TO TEN PER DAY

WEEK -- 40 TO 50 HOURS, SOMETIMES MORE

LUNCH -- 1/2 HOUR LUNCH BREAK

STANDING OR SITTING:

SITS WHILE OPERATING EQUIPMENT APPROXIMATELY 95% OF TIME. STANDS TO COMPLETE JOB TASKS OUTSIDE OF EQUIPMENT OPERATION APPROXIMATELY 95% OF THE TIME.

LIFTING OR CARRYING:

ABLE TO LIFT AND CARRY UP TO 50 POUNDS AND ASSISTS OTHERS IN LIFTING EQUIPMENT

WEIGHING MORE THAN 50 POUNDS. TRANSPORT VEHICLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MOVING EQUIPMENT.

PULLING OR PUSHING:

REQUIRES THE ABILITY TO WORK IN AWKWARD POSITIONS TO COMPLETE DIGGING, HAMMERING,

SAWING, WRENCHING, JACK HAMMERING, EQUIPMENT WINDOW

CLEANING, FLOOR BOARD BRUSHING/SWEEPING, REFUELING AND LUBRICANT CHECKS TO COMPLETE TASKS.

CLIMBING:

PERIODICALLY REQUIRED TO CLIMB A (6 TO 20 FOOT) LADDER TO COMPLETE JOB TASKS. MAY BE REQUIRED TO CLIMB (4 TO 6 FEET) INTO PERSONNEL LIFTING EQUIPMENT.
