Job summary

Durango School District 9-R is seeking licensed substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year to support students and staff across multiple locations. This role offers flexible scheduling with assignments ranging from short-term to long-term expectations and daily pay options.

Qualified applicants hold a Colorado 3- or 5-year substitute license or a Colorado teaching license, or a 1-year substitute license with at least one year of post-secondary education.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal communication, basic language, math, and writing skills are required.
• Experience working with children and in a classroom setting is preferred.
• Licensure in Colorado as a substitute or teacher is required or in-progress with licensure plan.

Responsibilities

• Substitute for teachers across multiple locations and positions as needed.
• Maintain classroom routines, follow directions, and communicate with staff regarding assignments.

Job description

Durango School District is recruiting licensed substitute teachers for the 2026 - 2027 school year to work with our amazing students and staff!

We pay $185 per day, for a full day assigment.

3-5 day consecutive substituting assignments pay $195 per day.

Long term substitute assignments pay $265 per day.

This position requires a Colorado 3- or 5-year substitute license or a Colorado teaching license OR a 1-year Colorado substitute license and completion of at least one year of post-secondary education.

We are recruiting substitutes who are able to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations and in different positions.

Requirements Include

• Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license OR
• A 3- or 5-year Colorado substitute authorization OR
• A 1-year Colorado substitute authorization with completion of at least one year os post-secondary education.

Candidates must also have strong computer skills. Substitutes are required to navigate through electronic system independently to accept and decline assignments; maintain their schedules; view teacher's notes; and communicate with staff.
