  • Provide support for scholars who may be experiencing difficulty maintaining high standards for behavior in a classroom/school setting.
  • Implement restorative justice practices to balance relationships with students and the broader community.
  • Desire to learn and improve knowledge of restorative justice and restorative practices with emphasis on research-based methods.
  • Be the exemplar of restorative practices and support staff in implementing them across the school.
  • Adapt interventions to fit student needs and evaluate policy effectiveness.
  • Communicate with families regarding scholar behavior and action plans.
  • Plan for and lead Ambassador Program through daily lessons and activities supporting RJ placements.
  • Collaborate with Mental Health Team to promote a positive school climate and teaching excellence.
  • Maximize access to school-based and community resources.
  • Uphold professional ethics and comply with state and federal law.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information.

Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing Austin youth to attend and excel at the nation's top colleges and universities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for scholars who may be experiencing difficulty maintaining high standards for behavior in a classroom/school setting
  • Implement our restorative justice practices to ensure there is a balance between strengthening relationships with students, while deepening their commitment to, and respect for the broader Austin Achieve community
  • Desire to learn and improve upon knowledge of restorative justice, restorative dialogue, and restorative practices, with an emphasis on research-based practices
  • Be the exemplar of restorative practices and support teachers and leadership staff in implementing restorative practices in a whole school setting
  • Adapt interventions to fit student needs and campus/district priorities, and routinely evaluate the effectiveness of policies, programs, and practices
  • Communicate with families regarding scholar behavior and action plans
  • Plan for and lead Ambassador Program through daily lessons, activities, and hands on experiences supporting scholars working through RJ placements
  • Collaborate closely with Austin Achieve’s Mental Health Team to promote a school climate and culture conducive to student learning and teaching excellence
  • Maximize access to school-based, and community-based resources
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and compliance with state and federal law
  • Maintain adequate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of information
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Native Spanish fluency is desired but not required
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with teachers and parents to support students’ needs.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering most of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children. Other benefits include dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parental leave, subsidized childcare, paid time off, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan.
  • Teachers are eligible for additional stipends for additional certifications, serving as a mentor teacher/Grade Level Chair, or running extracurricular activities.
