The job of Nutrition & Wellness Worker II – Elementary & Middle School is performed to provide support to food service activities at the assigned location, specifically: directing food service personnel; producing food to meet students' mandated nutritional needs; providing written support to convey information; and complying with health standards and the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
This job reports to the Central Kitchen Manager.
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Skills. Ability to perform multiple technical tasks and upgrade skills as job conditions change; adherence to safety practices; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard food service equipment found in a commercial kitchen; using pertinent software applications.
Knowledge. Basic math, including fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; reading technical information, composing documents, facilitating group discussions; analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge includes safety practices and procedures; quantifying food preparation and handling; sanitation practices; methods of quantity cooking.
Abilities. Scheduling activities; gathering, collating, and classifying data; considering factors when using equipment; flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; operating equipment using standardized methods; working with diverse individuals or groups; working with data; utilizing job-related equipment; problem solving; communication; setting priorities; teamwork; working with interruptions; detailed information handling; maintaining good rapport with students, employees, and community.
Responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; utilizing resources from other work units as required; continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
Typical physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. Generally 10% sitting, 60% walking, 30% standing. Work performed under temperature extremes and exposure risk of injury or illness. Applicant must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
