Assistant Coaches and Volunteers

Responsibilities of and assistant coach and volunteer are as follows, but are not limited to:

Work cooperatively with the head coach and be under their direction.
Assist with teams with as much authority as granted by the head coach and KHSAA rules.
Have a thorough knowledge and abide by the rules of the Morgan County Schools Athletic handbook, KHSAA Handbook, SBDM Council Policy, Morgan County School Board Policy and the Morgan County Schools Discipline Guidelines.
Follow the Chain of Command (Assistant Coach => Coach => Athletic Director => Principal => Superintendent).
Meet all KHSAA Rules and Bylaws.
Meet all Title IX mandates within their powers.
Attend all required clinics.
Assist supervision of athletes at team camps, games, etc.
Assist coach, when requested, in scheduling practices, games, camps, etc.
Teach and model sportsmanship skills to players.
Teach and practice sport rules, drills, and plays.
Assist in the inventory of all equipment, uniforms, etc. for the program at the beginning of the season and at the end of the season. A copy of these inventories must be submitted to the Principal and Athletic Director.
Assist in the monitoring of player’s grades with the AD during season on a weekly basis.
Promote professional ethics while representing the Morgan County School System as a coach or teacher. Code of ethics developed by the Morgan County Board of Education applies.
Assist in contacting players if games or practices are cancelled or postponed.
Work cooperatively with all coaches and administrators.
Attend all meetings called by the AD, Principal, or Superintendent in relationship to the sport.
Develop a positive player coach relationship.
Be certified in CPR/First Aide and complete online safety course. (Paid Asst. only)
Be aware of player’s medical conditions, etc. in relationship to the sport.
Follow approved sign out procedures for participants during away events.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
