Responsibilities
- Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency
- Advises parents and legal guardians on student progress and development of improvement strategies
- Assesses student progress toward objectives and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration
- Collaborates with instructional staff, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes
- Counsels students to improve performance, health, problem‑solving skills, and personal issues
- Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners and address individual requirements
- Differentiates classroom work to meet individualized learning needs within established lesson plans
- Directs assistant teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to support effective classroom programs
- Facilitates student learning to achieve success in academics, interpersonal skills, and daily living through defined lesson plans
- Instructs students to improve academic success through a defined course of study
- Manages student behavior to promote a safe and optimal learning environment
- Monitors students in various educational settings (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips) to maintain safety
- Organizes age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student participation in learning activities
- Participates in PLC teams to review data and instructional practices
- Engages in staff, district, IEP, and 504 meetings to convey and gather critical information
- Prepares written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document progress and meet mandated requirements
- Reports health and safety issues to the administrator and appropriate agencies to maintain student safety and comply with regulations
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns
- Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators to resolve issues and provide direction
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit
Qualifications
- Skills: Administer assessment instruments; operate standard office equipment; teach Arizona State‑recognized standards; maintain accurate records
- Knowledge: Algebra and/or geometry; technical reading, writing and facilitation; analysis of situations; government codes, policies, and regulations; lesson‑plan requirements; child development stages; behavioral management strategies
- Abilities: Schedule activities, meetings and events; gather and analyze data; operate job‑related equipment; adapt to changing priorities; maintain confidentiality; exhibit tact, patience, and flexibility; work flexible hours
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a job‑related area
- Required Licensure: Arizona Teaching Certificate; Appropriate Core Content Area certification; SEI Endorsement
- Clearance: Criminal background clearance; Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Desired Experience: Experience related to the position
Work Environment
The role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The position includes 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing, with exposure to temperature extremes and occasional risk of injury.
