Job Description

Instructional Assistant/Personal Care LPN - Special Education

This position reports to the Elementary School Nurse and is a non‑interim role.

Essential Functions

• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community.
• Observe, record, and report to the school nurse the condition of the student—including signs and symptoms that may indicate a change in the patient's condition.
• Provide emotional and physical comfort to the student.
• Assist in the care of the student in accordance with the student's care plan.
• Assist as needed with other students in the program.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience: Previous experience working with severely handicapped children; effective communication skills.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Required Testing / Certifications / Licenses

License: Current licensed practical nurse (LPN) license.

Continuing Education / Training: None specified.

Clearances

• Criminal background clearance.
• Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Access to valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and other required clearance.
