Lewis Central Community School District seeks an Individual & Large Group Speech Sponsor for the 2026-27 school year at Lewis Central High School or Middle School in Council Bluffs, IA.

Under the supervision of the Activities Director, the sponsor leads students in extra-curricular and some co-curricular activities to support individual and program success. Travel to events may be required.

Lewis Central Community School District is looking foran Individual & Large Group Speech Sponsorfor the2026-27 School Year.This activities expected time commitment for working is October-March.Some additional time may be required outside of this timeframe and will be determined and communicated by the Activities Director.

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Activities Director,aSpeech Sponsor'sprimary responsibilitiesis to lead and develop students in extra-curricular, and in some instances, co-curricular activities to help achieve both individual andprogram success.

Essential Functions

• Develop and implement effectiveprogram that in some assignments focus on skill development, teamwork, andwell-rounded students.


• Provide guidance and mentorship to student participants, fostering their personal andextra-curriculargrowth.


• Plan and execute practice sessions as necessary.


• Create and maintain a positive and inclusive culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and commitment.


• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to promote a supportive and engaging program.


• Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities as requested.


• Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state policies.


• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding activities, schedules, and expectations.


• Encourage academic achievement and emphasize the importance of balancing academics with extra-curricular activities.


• Attend, support and supervise students atcompetitions, performances, and other related events.

Travel Requirements:

Depending on the assignment, this position may berequired to travel to all related events and in some instance operate a school vehicle to transport student-participantsto events.
