Job summary

North Kansas City Schools Maple Park Middle School in Kansas City, Missouri seeks a 2026-27 Head TSA Coach. Immediate start. This part-time position reports to the athletic director and supports a comprehensive school athletics program.

The ideal candidate holds a Missouri teaching or substitute certificate and brings coaching experience to develop student skills, discipline, and teamwork in the sport involved.

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri teacher or substitute certificate issued through DESE.
• Preferred previous coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the coaching of individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Assists in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director and Head Coach in scheduling interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach's sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Assists in organizing and supervising a total sports program.
• Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
• Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
• Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

REPORTS TO: The athletic director who provides overall objectives and final evaluations in conjunction with the building administrator.

JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
