Position Title: 2026-27 Graduate Assistant – Communication Studies
Department of Communication Studies seeks graduate students as applicants for Graduate Assistant.
Hours/Units per week: Students can work up to 20 hours per week during the semester.
Instructional support includes, but is not limited to, proctoring and grading examinations, recording grades, conducting small discussion groups and/or meeting individually with students in scheduled office hours to clarify course material for students enrolled in large lecture courses, and other related tasks.
Program‑level support includes, but is not limited to, assisting faculty with research, editorial and administrative work associated with the DTLA Communication Studies Completion BA program, the Lancaster Prison Program / Prison Graduation Initiative, and the production of Colloquy, the academic journal of the Department of Communication Studies.
Good research skills, writing proficiency, agility in using educational technology, and an ability to mentor undergraduate students. Understanding of quantitative, qualitative, or rhetorical theories and research methods, as appropriate to the content of the assigned class, is also preferred.
Initial Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary schedule information for a Graduate Assistant‑monthly: 12‑month Classification is available based on the following ranges:
