Lecturer Pool – History

The Department of History at Sacramento State offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. This position supports the department’s teaching mission.

Responsibilities

• Instruction of assigned courses, including lesson planning, delivering lectures, and facilitating class discussions.
• Preparation of course materials, assignments, exams, and learning resources.
• Grading, providing timely feedback, and maintaining accurate records.
• Holding office hours and advising students as needed.
• Other duties as assigned based on departmental needs (e.g., committee work, curriculum support).
• Course assignments, dates, times, and modalities are determined by the Department Chair in accordance with college policy.

Appointment Details

Part‑time lecturers serve on a conditional appointment based on enrollment and budget. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, with possible renewal based on department needs, funding, and performance. Appointments may be a full academic year in certain circumstances.

Rank and Salary

Salary ranges are expressed as a full‑time rate (15 weighted teaching units, WTUs) and pro‑rated for the units taught. Current preliminary ranges (effective July 2024) are:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
• Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
• Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
• Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in History (or related field).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in History, Public History, or related discipline.
• College‑level teaching experience.
