POSITION TITLE:Lecturer Pool – Gerontology Department

POSITION DETAILS:

The Department of Gerontology provides an applied interdisciplinary approach to studying the human aging process and the challenges encountered by older adults and their families as they interact in contemporary society.

Responsibilities
  • Teach part-time in assigned courses; prepare, deliver, and assess course content.
  • Grade assignments and exams; maintain office hours as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Department Chair on course assignments, dates, times, and modality.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
  • Appointments are conditional on enrollment and budget; initial appointments are typically for one semester and may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance.
Rank and Salary

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background as determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are provided, with salaries based on a full-time rate (15 weighted teaching units). A semester’s pay is issued in six equal payments. Salary for a given semester is pro-rated based on units worked out of 15 WTUs.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Gerontology or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Gerontology or related field.
  • Professional experience working with older adults and/or caregivers.

  2. Unofficial transcripts of the highest degree or degree required for the position.
