Assistant Football Coach

Responsibilities
- Design and implement program activities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to the sport.
- Provide supervision of student athletes during all aspects of participation in the program.
- Use sound instructional techniques to oversee the program and serve as a positive role model to student athletes and the community.
- Join a position assigned to a specific sport at Varsity, JV/Frosh, or Junior High level as applicable.
- Assesses student athletes for the purpose of providing feedback on performance and determining team placement.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences to receive and convey information related to the role.
- Communicate with parents, students, officials, administrators, and the community to provide information and direction.
- Instruct student athletes to promote growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Maintain records (e.g., statistics, permits, emergency information, schedules, equipment inventories) to comply with district, athletic conference, and state requirements.
- Manage uniforms, equipment, and facilities to ensure safety and proper use.
- Monitor academic eligibility and intervene as needed to maintain athletic eligibility.
- Supervise student athletes during all participation activities to minimize risk of injury.
- Teach sports techniques, rules, and strategies to prepare the team for competition.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.
Qualifications
- Experience: Job-related experience is required.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clearances: Criminal Background Clearance; Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Adaptability to changing work priorities; first aid; knowledge of laws, codes, policies, and regulations; organizing and communicating information.
- Mathematical ability (fractions, percents, ratios); ability to review technical information and communicate persuasively; safety and injury prevention knowledge.
- Ability to schedule activities, gather data, work with diverse individuals, and operate equipment; problem solving and leadership; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines; fostering sportsmanship.
Work Environment
The job includes physical demands such as occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. Typical distribution of work: 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing. Exposed to temperature variations and potential risk of injury.
