Job Description

Position: Assistant Football Coach

Location: Pinnacle High School, Phoenix, Arizona

Employment Type: Temporary, 1.0 FTE

Season Dates: 8/10/2026 - 10/31/2026

Salary: $2,431.00

Note: All coaches must be a district approved volunteer. Please also apply for Chaperone / Community Volunteer/ Volunteer Coach.

Essentional Functions

• Assesses student athletes to provide feedback and determine team placement.
• Attends meetings, workshops, conferences for information related to role.
• Communicates with parents, students, officials, administrators, and community to provide information, assistance, and direction.
• Instructs student athletes to promote growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Maintains records (statistics, insurance, permission forms, schedules, equipment inventories) to comply with district, athletic conference, and state requirements.
• Manages uniforms, equipment, and school facilities to maintain items responsibly and safely.
• Monitors academic eligibility per AIA requirements and provides intervention (counseling, tutoring).
• Supervises student athletes during all participation to ensure a low-risk environment.
• Teaches techniques, rules, strategies, and tactics to prepare team and individuals for competition.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Skills required include adapting to changing priorities, administering first aid, applying laws and regulations, organizing information, and communicating effectively.

Knowledge required includes basic math, interpretation of technical information, equipment use, injury prevention, eligibility guidelines, public relations protocols, safety practices, and professional standards.

Abilities required include scheduling activities, collecting data, working with diverse individuals, problem solving, strong leadership, confidentiality, meeting deadlines, modeling sportsmanship, motivating athletes, providing discipline, setting priorities, and working extended hours.

Responsibilities

Work under limited supervision following standardized practices; direct others within a small unit; utilize resources from other units as required.

Work Environment

Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, some climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. Requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing. Exposure to temperature extremes and injury risks.
