Addendum to Teacher Job Description__Specific to Special Education Teachers

• Maintain current knowledge of special education laws and regulations and meet their requirements.
• Perform accurate, functional and relevant assessment of individual student's learning needs for eligibility and educational programming.
• Maintain current and accurate Individual Education Plans.
• Work in a problem‑solving manner with other staff and parents to develop a program that supports student growth and success.
• Work collaboratively with staff to develop appropriate modifications, curriculum, and educational environments for students with exceptionalities.
• Work with a variety of students with exceptionalities from all legally recognized domains.
• Will be required to attend a Special Education Academy.

Job Goals

• Provide support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living.
• Delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
• Collaborating with other teachers, professional staff and administrative staff in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents and/or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
