Job summary

Crescent City Schools in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to support students' language and communication development, one-on-one or in small groups, and coordinate with the Director of Special Education.

The role requires Louisiana State License in Speech Pathology, CCC-SLP preferred, a Master’s degree in speech pathology, and at least one year of full-time professional experience beyond internship. This is an in-person role with involvement in IEP meetings and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of one year of full-time professional speech-language pathology experience beyond the first year of postgraduate experience.
  • Louisiana State License in Speech Pathology; CCC-SLP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to assist with language and communication development.
  • Consult with the Director of Special Education regarding opportunities to incorporate speech and language strategies in classroom settings.
  • Coordinate consultants and providers to support the speech and language caseload.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Write progress reports and annual goals to ensure students reach objectives.
  • Lead meetings for speech-only students and participate in annual IEP meetings as needed.
  • Write monthly progress notes per Medicaid requirements and utilize the electronic encounter system.
  • Provide supervision to speech-language pathology teachers if CCC-SLP certified.
  • Keep certifications and licensures current.
  • Take on other tasks as needed.

Job description

The Speech-Language Pathologist impacts students’ lives by:

  • Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to assist with language and communication development.
  • Consulting with the Director of Special Education regarding opportunities to incorporate speech and language strategies in classroom settings
  • Coordinating consultants and individual providers to support the needs of the speech and language caseload
  • Remaining knowledgeable of current trends and federal and state regulations in the field of speech-language pathology and special education to ensure compliance
  • Writing speech and language progress reports and annual goals to ensure students are on track to reaching their objectives
  • Leading meetings for speech-only students; participating in annual IEP meetings, as needed
  • Writing monthly progress report notes as required by Medicaid regulations – treatment ties directly to IEP goals/objectives; willingness to be trained on and use electronic encounter tracking system
  • If CCC-SLP certified, providing supervision to speech-language pathology teachers across the network
  • Keeping certifications and licensures current
  • Taking on other tasks as needed
