Northbrook District 28 is seeking a 2026-2027 Special Education Instructional Assistant (Full-Time) for Foundational Classroom(s) at Greenbriar Elementary School in Northbrook, IL. Salary ranges from $35,812 to $41,178, commensurate with experience, with full-time benefits and a daytime schedule from 7:45am to 3:45pm.

Responsibilities include supporting individual and small group instruction for students with IEPs, collaborating with certified staff, collecting data, and assisting with materials

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional Educator License required.
• Associate's Degree or 60 semester hours required.
• Basic level of technology and understanding of Google.

Salary Range: $35,812 to $41,178 or commensurate with experience

Benefits Eligibility: Eligible for full-time benefits for classified personnel based on assigned schedule

Work Year: 8/17/2026 - 5/28/2027

Days Off: 10 holidaysplus winter break (10 days) and spring break (5 days)

Schedule: 7:45am - 3:45pm

Payroll Schedule: 24 pays (8/31/2026 through 6/30/2027)

Qualifications & Licensure:

Performance Responsibilities:

• Support individual and small group instruction in the general and special education environment for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with certified personnel (i.e. special education teachers, general education teachers, and related services personnel) to support individual student needs
• Serve as a liaison between general and special education personnel, communicating student progress and needs
• Support data collection related to individual student goals
• Build and maintain positive and supportive relationships with students and staff
• Assist certified personnel with preparation of materials and modifications
• Provide accommodations as determined by a student'sIndividualized Education Program(IEP) team
• Support and model the implementation of classroom and school-wide expectations
• Support the implementation of individual student behavior plans
• Demonstrate the ability to problem solve in the moment in the best interest of students
• Support the generalization of skills across settings
• Collaboratively assist students in the development of adaptive/daily living skills
• Assist students in toileting, changing, and feeding as needed
• Assist in safely lifting and transferring students who weigh over fifty (50) pounds
• Individually lift and transfer students under fifty (50) pounds
• Participate in team meetings as needed
• Participate in annual Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Trauma-Informed training and other professional development as requested
• Perform other duties as assigned
