The Building Substitute Teacher will support the needs of one district building for the length of one academic school year. After one academic school year, applications will reopen for the ‘Building Substitute Teacher’ positions. Through this position you will establish an effective rapport with students and faculty while motivating students to develop skills, attitudes, and the knowledge needed to provide a proper foundation for higher education and career development.

Federal Qualification

A Pennsylvania Department of Education Instructional I or II Teaching Certificate Required. Placeholder letters for pending certificates from a college or university are accepted until Instructional I certificate is received to start the interview/paperwork process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Executing Daily Operations of Classroom
• Taking Attendance for Each Class Period
• Managing and Maintaining Proper Student Behavior
• Reporting All Necessary Information to the Primary Teacher
• Other duties as assigned by building principal

Required Clearances for Working within a Pennsylvania Public School:

• Act 34 – PA Criminal History
• Act 126 – Mandated Reporter Training
• Act 151 – Child Abuse History
• Act 168 – Sexual Misconduct and Disclosure Form
• If you have already obtained these clearances, they must be within one (1) year of hire date.

Compensation is as follows:

• Days 1-30 (non‑consecutive): $120.00/day (for the current school year)
• 31+ Consecutive Days: 70% of Step One (1) in the collective bargaining agreement
