Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair and service district vehicles and equipment, following safety procedures and meeting industry time standards.

The Shop operates with extended hours, and the role requires on-site work and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior heavy diesel fleet experience and CDL/ASE credentials are highly valued, with CDL endorsement required within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• 1 year of fleet maintenance experience in heavy diesel, truck or bus repair.
• K–12 education/public sector experience preferred.
• ASE OEM and EPA 609 certifications preferred.
• CDL with air brake, passenger and school bus endorsement must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receives, reviews, interprets, and closes assigned work orders in accordance with established procedures.
• Performs complex diagnostics and troubleshooting across all vehicle systems and components.
• Determines required maintenance and repair actions for vehicle systems including brakes, engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, cooling systems, air conditioning, lifts, fuel systems, exhaust systems, electrical systems, and gasoline and diesel-powered engines.
• Conducts state-required bus inspections and ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Inspects vehicles, performs advanced diagnostics, and completes repairs within established service and time expectations.
• Responds to and performs service road calls as needed.
• Documents all work completed and maintains accurate records of labor, parts, materials, and supplies used.
• Performs physically demanding work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments and weather conditions.
• Works flexible schedules as needed, including shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs and services mechanical issues on district vehicles and equipment. The incumbent performs work in compliance with established safety procedures, meeting or exceeding industry and manufacturer estimated work times. A Fleet Mechanic must also be able to drive any vehicle in the fleet and be available for on-call status as8 needed.

The Shop is open from 4:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. There are instances when the Shop may close later or open earlier based upon the needs of the students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required

Certifications/Licenses:

• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) OEM and EPA 609 certifications preferred
• CDL license with air brake, passenger and school bus endorsement must be obtained within 3 months of hire date
• Must supply a locking toolbox and mandated hand-tools

Experience:

• 1 year of fleet maintenance experience in heavy diesel, truck or bus repair, service, or fleet maintenance
• Experience in K–12 education or public sector preferred

• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed
