Job Description

Position Overview:

KIPP NYC is seeking teachers who can motivate and educate, develop both academic and character skills, and make college preparatory education relevant now and in the future.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Planning a college preparatory curriculum aligned with school standards and New York State Standards that fosters critical thinking.
  • Delivering thoughtful, rigorous daily lessons.
  • Assessing student progress and communicating results to students, families, and colleagues.
  • Providing individual and small group instruction until mastery is achieved.
  • Modeling the school’s values in all communications.
  • Demonstrating a “whatever it takes” attitude to ensure student success.
  • Advising a small group of students throughout their high school journey.
Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and character traits such as zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and humor.
  • At least two years of teaching experience (preferred).
  • New York State teacher certification in the relevant content area (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Passion for working in a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
  • Desire to grow as a teacher within the KIPP NYC community.
  • Proven success in improving student achievement within KIPP NYC communities.
Additional Information:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary range of $70,829 - $142,270, determined by experience, certification, and tenure within the network.
