Job Description

Position Overview:

KIPP NYC is seeking teachers who can motivate and educate students, develop both academic and character skills, and make a college preparatory education relevant now and in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a college preparatory curriculum aligned with school and New York State Standards that fosters critical thinking.
  • Deliver thoughtful, rigorous daily lessons focused on college preparation.
  • Assess student progress and communicate results to students, families, and colleagues.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction to ensure mastery for all students.
  • Model the school’s values in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrate a “whatever it takes” attitude to support student success.
  • Advise a small group of students throughout their high school journey.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and character traits such as zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and humor.
  • At least two years of teaching experience (preferred).
  • New York State teacher certification in the relevant content area (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Passion for working in a team-oriented, mission-driven school environment.
  • Desire to grow professionally within the KIPP NYC community.
  • Proven success in improving student achievement within KIPP NYC communities.

Additional Information:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary range of $70,829 to $142,270, determined by experience, certification, and tenure. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, generous time off, parental leave, backup care, life insurance, disability, sabbaticals, professional development, and tuition reimbursement.

Note: This role requires travel within NYC. Relocation outside a commutable distance or out of NY may affect employment status. Notify HR of any relocation plans.
