Successful job candidates will gain exposure to other jobs and careers in public service/safety through exploratory sessions with department leaders as well as gain the opportunity to develop work/life skills.

Supervision Received

Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

Ideal candidates will have the preferred qualifications:

  • A desire to work and learn about the Atlanta Fire Rescue department with a quality and positive experience.
  • Interest in careers in the Fire Department (recruitment & background, customer service, operations, public administration, emergency medical services, bike team and maintenance).
  • Inclination to build upon and improve interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn in a professional work environment and receive feedback to improve performance.
  • An understanding of the value of teamwork and how to contribute to accomplish team goals.
  • Initiative to complete assigned projects and tasks

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department environment is safety sensitive and requires that all applicants undergo a drug screen and fingerprinting background check

  • Must be at least 16 year old
  • Must attend or have attended Atlanta Public Schools
  • Must be interested in being a Firefighter
  • Must be able to commit to the entirety of the program
