Job description

The Brookline Recreation department is seeking qualified, energetic, and compassionate candidates for the 2025 summer camp season. Previous experience with camp programming or previous counselor experience is preferred. Hourly rates are based on camp position. The Summer Camp program will run from June 30th, 2025, to August 15, 2025, at three elementary schools in Brookline, MA.

Staff is required to attend 3 days of mandatory training during (TBD, Late June) with specific schedules to be determined. Below is a brief description of the open positions. All candidates will go through a background check through the Criminal and Sexual Offender database as required by the Town of Brookline Health Department.

HEAD COUNSELOR

• Schedule: June 30th, 2025, to August 15, 2025; M-F: 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM
• Pay Rate: $19 per hour
• Requirements: Must be minimum 18 years old
• General Responsibilities: Primary caregiver for each camper in assigned group. Manage/Supervise Counselors and LITs, which includes the continual training of the staff. Direct, supervise, and organize campers throughout daily activities. Be responsible for the welfare of each individual in the group and do all possible to resolve problems. Will take part in swim lessons with campers.
