2025 Seasonal Operations Labourer - Environmental Services

Status: Accepting applications

Permanent/Temporary: Seasonal

Full/Part-time: Full-time

Seasonal Operations Labourers are required to perform labourer tasks in several service areas within the Operations Department, including Environmental Services, Roads, Parks, Cemetery, and Facilities. Duties may include the day-to-day maintenance of the Town parks, gardens, cemeteries, roads, and facilities. These are front-line positions and are expected to act in a courteous, polite, and professional manner while taking pride in their job to maintain the Town’s reputation for having excellent facilities and beautiful parks and gardens.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Completion of high school
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a similar field
  • Valid G driver's license
  • Experience with vehicle operation, gardening, and parks maintenance equipment, including an understanding of equipment maintenance
  • Training and experience in horticulture considered an asset for parks positions
  • Landscape Exterminator pesticide license an asset
  • Experience in maintenance of pools, buildings, sports fields, and arenas for facilities positions
  • General labourer experience in construction an asset for roads and environmental services positions
  • Experience performing waste collection, custodial duties, and maintaining public washrooms for parks and facilities positions

Successful candidates will be required to work the summer season. Positions could start as soon as April and end as late as November. Hours of work and start dates will vary by position, and work may be up to 44 hours per week. Weekend, holiday, and evening work may be required. A driver’s abstract is required prior to starting work.
