The City of Oregon City Police Department is establishing a hiring list for entry-level police officers. Police Officers with DPSST Certification will receive additional pay: 5% for Intermediate Certification and 10% for Advanced Certification.
Application Deadline: By 11 p.m., December 31, 2025, applicants must complete an online City of Oregon City job application and National Testing Network FrontLine Test scores to be considered for employment. Oregon City Police requires a score of 75% or higher in four FrontLine tests, including writing, reading, and both parts of the Public Safety Self-Assessment.

What to expect at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com:
Upon completion, all candidate scores are automatically sent to the Oregon City Police Department. Candidates must score at least 75% on each section of the NTN exam to be placed on the eligibility list. The department will contact candidates for further steps, including scheduling the ORPAT (physical agility test). Note: ORPAT results from other jurisdictions are not accepted.
National Testing Network provides a standardized testing environment but does not replace the department's final decision-making process. All results are forwarded to the department for final review.
Summary:
This role involves full-performance law enforcement and crime prevention duties, including enforcing laws, providing emergency assistance, investigating crimes and accidents, serving warrants, issuing citations, making arrests, and more. Work involves personal danger, requiring minimal supervision and adherence to department rules. Training during probation includes classroom and on-the-job learning, with rotations to familiarize officers with various duties.
Key duties include patrolling, investigating incidents, issuing citations, arresting suspects, responding to accidents, assisting the public, investigating family disputes, serving as a court guard or bodyguard, and performing specialized tasks based on skills and department needs. Officers must meet physical requirements such as walking, running, jumping, standing, lifting, and restraining individuals.
Skills required include quick situational analysis, knowledge of laws, stress management, clear communication, computer proficiency, effective relationships, firearm handling, investigative techniques, observation, driving, and physical fitness.
Minimum qualifications: high school diploma or GED; preference for prior law enforcement experience or DPSST certification; college coursework is desirable but not mandatory. Equivalent experience and training may be considered.

Interested applicants must complete the Scholarship Request Form and have applied with the city first. Testing with a scholarship does not affect scores.
