The Art & Science Summer Day Camp Counselor provides leadership and planning for specialty STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) programs for youth aged 6-13, promoting critical thinking, curiosity, creativity, and communication through hands-on active learning.

Salary starts at $17.90 per hour, with a Monday-Friday schedule.

The YMCA is hiring instructors for camps at YMCA Hubs and sites around Chicago, including:

Minimum and Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent; higher education in science, technology, engineering, arts, or math preferred
• Prior experience working with youth; camp experience preferred
• Ability to carry 50+ lbs
• Experience facilitating art or science youth programs
• Passion for working with diverse youth and providing high-quality, age-appropriate instruction

Child Abuse Prevention

• Report hazards or suspicious behavior to supervisor
• Follow policies to ensure child safety and supervision
• Complete required child abuse prevention training
