Mechanical Supervisors effectively lead teams of 8-25 skilled laborers in constructing, repairing, and maintaining locomotives and rail cars. During training, you will learn to conduct inspections and repairs at the component level on locomotives and railcars, understand compliance standards of NS, the Association of American Railroads (AAR), and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). You will also participate in process improvement initiatives. After a six-month training program combining classroom and on-the-job supervisory training, you will be promoted to Mechanical Supervisor at a locomotive shop or freight car repair facility.
