Job description

The Fixed Income Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week program that includes one week of classroom training followed by rotations across various Fixed Income areas. These rotations may include Global Credit & Municipals, Securitized Products, Foreign Exchange/Emerging Markets, Interest Rates, and Commodities. Summer Analysts receive on-the-job training, collaborate with experienced professionals on meaningful projects, and develop their skills in a dynamic environment. The program also features a Senior Management Speaker Series, desk teach-ins, networking events, community service, performance reviews, and a mentorship program.

Program Overview

Participants start with a one-day orientation introducing the Firm's businesses and the employee experience at Morgan Stanley. They then attend division-specific training sessions that cover core skills, daily market updates, business overviews, and basic product and technical training.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Sales: Develop and maintain client relationships, create investment ideas, learn sales and cross-selling techniques, and represent the Firm with clients.
  • Trading: Assist in generating trade ideas, support market-making and trade execution, and provide research analytics.
  • Strategy: Develop investment recommendations based on market fundamentals and technical research, utilizing the firm’s database to create new models.
  • Structuring: Build valuation models to optimize transaction economics and assess value and risk.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree (junior) or a Master’s degree with expected graduation in December 2025 or Spring 2026.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • No prior finance or sales & trading experience required; interest in finance and markets is essential.
  • Analytical, adaptable, with a strong work ethic, leadership qualities, teamwork ability, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Expected base pay is approximately $52.89 per hour at the start, with total compensation including bonuses, incentives, and benefits, determined individually.
