What You’ll Be Doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government, and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, grow, manage risk, and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centers around the world. Our Sales and Trading businesses include Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Commodities, and Securitization, among others. Our Trading Floor is a major contributor to the overall success of CIBC Capital Markets and CIBC parent. Our Sales, Trading and Research colleagues come from diverse educational, professional and internal backgrounds including Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Programming, CA, CFA, MBA, Middle Office, Finance and Risk Management. These core competencies enable the group to effectively achieve its mandate to provide high quality products and services to our global clients.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sales and Trading Analyst to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about financial markets and eager to develop their skills in a fast-paced environment. As an Analyst, you will support our sales and trading operations, working closely with senior sales and trading colleagues to facilitate transactions and enhance client relationships.
How You’ll Succeed
Assist in the execution of trades and management of client accounts.
Conduct market research and analysis to support trading strategies and decision-making.
Monitor market trends, pricing, and trading volumes across various asset classes.
Prepare presentations and conduct research on clients to assist senior team members in securing new mandates, which will involve researching, collecting, analyzing and organizing information in a manner that is presentable to clients.
Work closely with the various Global Markets teams as well as Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking on exploring opportunities, developing market views, and bringing deals to the public or private markets.
Collaborate with senior team members to prepare reports and presentations for clients and internal stakeholders.
Help maintain and update trading systems and databases.
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements and client engagement strategies.
Improve technical and soft skills by participating in ongoing training provided by the bank.
Who You Are
Graduate with a quantitative degree, such as: Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline (Graduation date of May 2025)
A results-oriented self-starter.
Team player who excels at working collaboratively with others in a group setting.
Proven ability to pay close attention to detail and execute transactions within tight timeframes with an analytic/systematic approach.
Strong writing and oral communication skills, incorporating the ability to explain detailed financial analysis.
Strong technical/computer and analytical skills, including high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous transactions.

CIBC’s Internship and Analyst positions are not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B via). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000-$135,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
