General Description

Requires candidates to have or be working towards an endorsement appropriate to the position. The teacher is responsible for fulfilling obligations and reflecting the philosophies outlined in contract, state and federal law, and the policies, regulations, and rules of Bellevue Public Schools. The teacher provides students with appropriate and effective instruction, acts as a positive role model, and maintains a safe and healthy environment to help students achieve their maximum potential.

Specific Responsibilities

• Apply professional competencies to meet the standards adopted by the State Board of Education and the Bellevue Public Schools evaluation criteria.
• Follow the Code of Ethics adopted by the State Board of Education.
• Adhere to all district policies, rules, regulations, and directives from supervisors or administrators.
• Exhibit character, moral standards, and personal habits suitable for emulation by youth.
• Maintain mental and physical health adequate for the responsibilities of the position.
• Devote sufficient time and energy to assigned duties and school activities.
• Maintain positive relationships with patrons, employees, and students.
• Conduct oneself in a manner that does not discredit the school, district, or oneself, both in and out of school.
• Behave morally and within legal limits to sustain professional educator contracts.
• Supervise students and staff in a manner that is not cruel.
• Fulfill teaching responsibilities as defined by state law and as assigned by supervisors.
• This position is subject to veterans' preference.
