Job Description
KIPP Indy seeks a passionate Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to cultivate a love for reading and writing while delivering rigorous instruction that promotes critical thinking and analysis. The teacher will create an engaging environment, deliver effective lessons, and utilize data to improve student outcomes.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons in reading, writing, and literacy that foster critical thinking and a love of literature.
  2. Incorporate diverse texts and culturally responsive teaching practices to create an inclusive classroom environment.
  3. Use assessments to track progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction to meet all learners' needs.
  4. Promote discussion, collaboration, and appreciation for literature and language.
  5. Set high expectations for achievement and behavior, providing support for student success.
  6. Maintain strong communication with families to support learning and community building.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues and coaches to enhance curriculum and teaching practices.
  8. Embrace feedback and pursue professional growth opportunities.
  9. Participate in school events, conferences, and professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana teaching license or in process of reciprocity application.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, English, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in ELA (preferred).
  • Strong literacy development knowledge.
  • Pass criminal background check.

Additional Information
