Job description

PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide instruction, leadership, and supervision to middle school students participating in the sports program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with practices by emphasizing teamwork, skill development, learning rules and strategies, and student-athlete improvement.
  2. Assist with academic monitoring in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and other support staff.
  3. Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all times. Be present at all practices and games, arriving on time and remaining until all student-athletes have left.
  4. Maintain responsibility for equipment and inventory management.
  5. Complete all required paperwork, including rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms.
  6. Coordinate transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
  7. Conduct oneself ethically during practices and contests, exemplifying high standards of sportsmanship.
  8. Assist in coordinating the sports program.
  9. Promote student-athletes' accomplishments both academically and athletically.
  10. Engage in professional development through clinics and publications.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-athletes

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • Must possess a Teachers Certificate, valid Substitute Certificate, or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a full- or part-time employee in the District.
  • Be employed as a teacher or administrator in the school applying for this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements for this role include sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, using hands and fingers, reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting objects of at least 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
