2025-26 Middle School Boys Assistant Basketball Coach (Foreign Language Academy)

Join to apply for the 2025-26 Middle School Boys Assistant Basketball Coach (Foreign Language Academy) role at Kansas City Public Schools.

PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide instruction, leadership, and supervision to middle school students participating in the sports program.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with practices by emphasizing teamwork, skill development, learning rules and strategies, and student-athlete improvement.
  2. Engage in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and other academic support staff.
  3. Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all other times. Must be punctual for all practices and games and stay until all student-athletes have left.
  4. Maintain responsibility for equipment and inventory.
  5. Complete all required paperwork such as rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms.
  6. Coordinate transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
  7. Conduct oneself and the team ethically during practices and contests, exemplifying sportsmanship.
  8. Assist in program coordination.
  9. Promote student-athletes' academic and athletic accomplishments.
  10. Engage in professional growth through clinics and publications.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Teachers Certificate, valid Substitute Certificate, or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Be a full or part-time employee in the District.
  • Employed as a teacher or administrator in the school where applying.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
