Position Summary

The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop academically and socially. The teacher will also be expected to maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Teaching certification recognized by the State of Oklahoma
  • Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete the annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Teach academic content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing adopted course of study and activities aligned to current state standards.
  • Adhere to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks.
  • Create a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.
  • Instruct pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and district procedures.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to meet each pupil’s needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, make adjustments, keep records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means.
  • Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to assess and provide interventions/resources for pupils’ health, social-emotional, and academic needs.
  • Enhance professional pedagogy through in-service education and professional growth opportunities, setting and seeking goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills and Abilities

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write grammatically correct correspondence, solve practical problems, interpret various instructions, and meet physical demands including lifting and moving weights as specified.

Work Environment

Exposure to airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, mechanical parts, and noise levels from somewhat loud to extremely loud. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May occasionally supervise staff in task completion.
