Qualifications:
  1. Current Minnesota Teaching License or must qualify for a Minnesota teaching license.
  2. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish. (We use the InterviewIQ language assessment tool and require an "Advanced" rating under the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines).
Assignment Details:

This assignment is eligible for placement on the teacher salary schedule and full-time benefits (medical/dental). This position will work less than the full school year with working dates of 8/25/25-6/5/26; will work all duty days between this date range including conferences, grading/planning days, and professional learning days. The position is ineligible towards a year of probation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Demonstrate native or near-native fluency in Spanish. (We require an "Advanced" rating under the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines).
  2. Demonstrate English language proficiency to communicate with parents.
  3. Demonstrate successful experience in Total Physical Response (TPR) methodology for teaching in an immersion program.
  4. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the district-approved curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  5. Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  6. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  7. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records in a timely fashion, and prepare progress reports.
  8. Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans.
  9. Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom days via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, conferences, etc.
  10. Work in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
  11. Maintain and improve professional skills through participation in meetings, PLCs, coursework, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best practices.
  12. Integrate technology into instruction.
  13. Perform other duties of similar nature or level.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate in a fast-paced environment with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
  2. Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.
  3. Respond in emergency situations.
  4. Follow school district policies.
  5. May plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers.
  6. Provide input for goal-setting for paraprofessionals.
Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Experience in an immersion program preferred.
  2. Ability to perform daily routines effectively.
  3. Proficiency in operating computers and classroom technology.
  4. Ability to develop positive relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  5. Maintain professional composure and show initiative.
  6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
