Job Description

This description provides a general overview of the custodian duties and is not exhaustive of every task involved.

• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors with appropriate cleaners and tools.
• Empty trash containers regularly.
• Report major repairs or issues to the principal.
• Follow safety procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
• Polish furniture and fixtures.
• Requisition cleaning supplies and equipment as needed.
• Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Move heavy furniture or equipment manually or with tools.
• Set up or remove decorations, furniture, or equipment for events.
• Clean laboratory equipment using appropriate methods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills: Ability to perform multiple non-technical tasks, with periodic skill upgrades.

• Proficiency in using custodial supplies.

Knowledge: Basic math, instruction following, and understanding multi-step instructions. Knowledge of cleaning methods and supplies.

Abilities: Ability to schedule activities, gather data, consider multiple factors, work with diverse individuals, and operate equipment using standardized methods.
