Position Purpose

The teacher plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Calvary Christian Academy by guiding students academically and spiritually, fostering Christian growth, and helping students reach their full potential in accordance with our biblical values.

Key Responsibilities

• Model Christ in word and deed.
• Develop biblically integrated lesson plans weekly aligned with school guidelines to promote spiritual and academic growth.
• Maintain communication with parents as per administrative policies.
• Respond to staff communications promptly and stay informed of school updates.
• Be available for student support during designated times.
• Participate in staff devotions, meetings, and school events such as Back to School Night.
• Contribute to accreditation and professional development efforts.
• Adhere to professional dress code and participate in Chapel services.
• Begin each class with prayer and provide encouragement and praise.
• Decorate classrooms seasonally and scripturally.
• Maintain accurate student records, prepare assessments, report cards, and update grade records.
• Incorporate school-wide scripture themes and biblical teaching methods.
• Implement discipline with love, provide remediation or enrichment, and assess student abilities.
• Ensure classroom safety and proper use of facilities, including classroom cleanup and securing classrooms.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to Calvary Chapel’s Statement of Faith.
• Willingness to uphold a lifestyle above reproach and aligned with our leadership standards.
• Passion for teaching and a calling to serve as an educator.
• Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written), with proficiency testing if applicable.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Spiritual gifts in teaching, discernment, administration, leadership, service, and exhortation.
• State certification in Elementary Education, or equivalent certifications such as ACSI or CSI.
• Ongoing professional development and computer literacy.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education for elementary teachers.
• Additional qualifications or credits in specific subject areas preferred.
• For Pre-K teachers: Degree in Elementary Education or related, with requirements to complete county/state licensing classes, physical exam, background screening, and ongoing professional development.
